Great patience and attention to detail is foremost in hand carving an Advent Design custom stone bath, custom stone tub or custom stone basin. An Advent Design stone master is first provided with a selection of many blocks of stone from which he will choose the right one. Because the process of creating a master work (a truly magnificent custom solid stone soaking bath), often requires as much as 400 hours of great craftsmanship. Our stone master lives and breaths day and night for weeks and weeks the process of creating an Advent functional work of art otherwise known as an Advent Stone Custom Stone Bath. He must feel good and confident in how the stone conforms to his hand tools as he labors. Although some electric sanding tools are used in the process of making a stone bath, we still rely upon the art more than the science to create a superior stone bath in terms of its' beauty. Moreover, all stone is porous and therefore all stone needs filling and it takes a trained eye to mix the very special formula of epoxy and resins and finely ground stone dust from the same block of stone and to fill the small crevices and small pores on the surfaces with a color mixture which enhances the natural beauty of the entire piece. This is a skill only attained from many years of experience of our master carvers. At Advent Design we use our specially designed sealer to protect the stone bath, stone tub and stone basin from dirt and other markings. This impregnating sealer protects against efflorescence, freeze-thaw damage and salt attack. It guards against surface staining yet it retains the existing color and finish of Advent Design fine stone baths, stone tubs and stone basins and makes cleaning easier.
